“As Christians, our communication is to be governed, shaped, molded, and influenced by biblical truth. You could also say our communication is to be shaped more by the Word than it is by the world.”

How does godly communication affect our role as church piano players?

Well, in the next few posts, we'll examine the importance of godly communication (covering six pointers) in contrast to five communication killers.

As Christians, or even just as human beings, communication is something we do a lot, isn’t it? We use lots of words in our day-to-day lives (some more than others!), and those words do impact other people, in both good and bad ways.

So when it comes to our communication then as church piano players, let me give you a few key pointers to help us maintain good communication with our fellow church members, and the leaders we are accountable to, in our local church.

First - Good communication is godly communication.

We’re not just musicians - we are Christians; children of God who have been placed in the same church as other children of God. Our God has been kind and gracious enough to give us many principles and much practical instruction on how we should communicate as followers of Christ.

As Christians, our communication is to be governed, shaped, molded, and influenced by biblical truth. You could also say our communication is to be shaped more by the Word than it is by the world.

Second - Good communication is a lifeline to good relationships

Too often, when communication breaks down in a relationship, it’s often the beginning of the end for that relationship.

As church piano players, and more importantly as church members, our lives revolve around relationships, and the responsibilities we have in those relationships. So, we want to do all we can to maintain good communication if we want to have good relationships.

Third - Good communication now can prevent a bad situation later

How very true this is, and how disappointing and frustrating it can be, to see situations develop that bring so much pain and grief that could have been avoided, if there was good communication earlier on.

Even if that’s a difficult conversation that needed to take place, it’s better to do that earlier on than reap the consequences of neglecting doing it.

Maybe there is something you are feeling you need to communicate, but you keep putting it off, hoping things might all work out. Although that may happen in some situations, I encourage you to be careful, and make sure you're not making the situation worse later, by avoiding saying what is needed to be said now.

It's always so sad when you see a relationship break-down between believers because of a lack of biblical communication.

In contrast, what an encouragement it is, and a witness to unbelievers, when we communicate in such a way that is shaped and defined by biblical truths.

In the next post, we will look at 3 more pointers on this subject of godly communication.
