Sharing Your Gift Of Music - Part 1
"The fact is, God has given you a gift, and it's one that you can bless others with."

How do you share your gift of music beyond helping in church?
In the next couple of posts, we'll be looking at this subject, and it's really just some encouragement for you on how you can be a blessing not just to your local church on a Sunday, but beyond that time and even beyond the church walls in various ways.
The fact is, God has given you a gift, and it's one that you can bless others with. So, we will look at a few ways you might be able to do that, if you have the time and the desire to do this, of course.
If this isn't something you're interested in, then don’t stress about it; you're already serving your church, and being a blessing to them as their church piano player, so be at peace with that.
As I said before, God has given you your gift of music, and you can be perfectly content if you are serving the Lord as the church piano player, or as one of the church piano players in your church.
However, if you are far from being overloaded and overwhelmed, but instead have some extra time that you want to use to serve and bless others, let me give you some ideas to consider.
Here goes then…
Help to train new church piano players
You might be the only church piano player in your church, but it doesn’t have to stay that way.
If you ask around, you might find others, and maybe some teenagers, who would love to learn how to play the piano in a church setting.
You don’t have to be an expert to pass on the things you have learned. One option may be telling them about my 20 Day Church Piano Player course, which is specifically designed to help church pianists who want to feel more confident at the piano, strengthen their skills, and serve their church through music, no matter their experience. I do offer a special price for churches who have multiple piano players; as long as they buy one full price course they can get up to 3 additional students for just $20 each. So that’s something to bear in mind, perhaps.
It could be a great experience to have a group of piano players going through the course together, and then comparing notes and things they are all learning as they work through the material.
Offer to help the church with admin & organisational tasks related to church music
This isn’t very musical, but it still needs to be done by someone.
You may already do this as the church piano player or maybe you don’t. If not, could you lift or lighten a burden on someone else's shoulders by offering to do any admin or organizational tasks related to the worship service, and the music that is used?
This might be things like taking care of the CCLI side of things,or it could involve creating power point slides for the worship songs. Again, it’s just another way you can serve and be a blessing if you have the time.
Play the piano for family worship
Now I realise there are often a variety of ages among church piano players, so there’s a real variation of circumstances.
However, if you are in a family situation where you regularly have times of family worship and sing together, this could be a great opportunity, if the piano is easily accessible, to accompany the singing or even help family members learn parts if you are trying to sing in harmony.
Next week, we'll continue looking at some more ideas on how to share your gift of music.
